INFLAMMATION AND DISEASE PROGRESSION
CRP (C-Reactive Protein) measures
inflammation and disease progression.
CRP is not a specific disease but acts as an alarm for serious conditions. Inflammation is the body's attempt to heal itself after injury and defend itself against viruses or bacteria.
Elevated CRP can be used as a predictor of cardiovascular diseases, infections (which may require antibiotic treatment), chronic inflammatory diseases or certain cancers (e.g. lymphoma). CRP monitoring is essential to discover serious conditions at an early stage.
The auto inflammatory diseases refers to diseases where the immunesystem mistakenly attacks healthy tissue. Auto inflammatory diseases includes arthritis, pelvic inflammation and hepatitis. Early detection and initial treatment can lessen the side effects.
